Amazon Buys Stanza

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Today’s big ebook news: Amazon just bought Lexcycle, makers of the best ebook reader ever.

I’ll probably post more thoughts on Stark Raving Calm later, but for now, I smell doom and gloom.

[Update: You can find said thoughts here].

I’m excited to announce the release of a new short story, “Left Coast Karma”. Here’s a tiny excerpt:

Kevin and his friends were gone—vanished into a crowd of painfully cool Karma drones. I was about to go track him down when someone spoke at my elbow.

“It’s all fake, you know.”

Go get it FOR FREE, in any format you like, from either of the following locations:

Thanks to Bryan for much help with the cover, and stay tuned for related news!

“Ends” Available on Feedbooks and Smashwords

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

If you like your reading on Kindle, iPhone or PDF, my first short story is available in pretty much any electronic format your heart desires, from either of two fantastic web sites. Feedbooks and Smashwords are both really cool sites for discovering classic and indie material (both short and novel-length) alike.

Here’s the really cool part: If you have an iPhone, you can browse them both directly from Stanza. I’ve read several books on Stanza and can’t recommend it enough. Until someone drops a Kindle in my lap, it’s my e-reader of choice, by a mile.

Download “Ends” from either of the following (I discovered Feedbooks first, so I have a bit of a soft spot for it):

While you’re there, check out other independent writers as well!

Copyhacker 3G

Friday, April 17th, 2009

Another year, another repurposing for the Copyhacker site. I haven’t been doing the copyhacking thing lately, and I’m publishing to several places under the Copyhacker “brand” now, so copyhacker.com should probably start pulling its own weight, huh?

So I’m going to make it the place for writing-related news and updates. The design may get some tweaking eventually, and I’ll add some links to other places, like Twitter, TVgasm and my blog. SRC will continue to be the place for essays and nonfiction stuff like that. I’ll also post links to my stuff that’s published on Feedbooks and Smashwords.

If you have any ideas for site layout or content, leave a comment and let me know!
